1. Hank’s Haute Dogs

Hank Adaniya's parents from Chicago used to run a hot dog stand in Hawaii during the 1950s. It was obvious for Hank to continue the family business but he did it with his own twist.

Located in coral street, Honolulu, Han's Haute Dogs joint is famous for its Chicago-style dogs which are topped with yellow mustard, green relish, onion, tomato, pickle, sport peppers and celery salt.

Hank even ships in most of the ingredients from Chicago, to maintain the authenticity of the hot dog.

2. Rainbow Drive-In

At Nico's Pier 38, patties for a burger are made from a fresh fish puree combined with Dijon mustard and seasonings before being shaped and cooked. Then, it is served on a toasted hamburger bun with cilantro aioli.

The eatery was already famous for its authentic patties but his hype elevated after Guy met him at the Honolulu fish auction while hand-selecting opah fish for the day.

This means, Nico prepares gourmet fish every day but sells it takeout style without overcharging the item.

Firstly, take some large fresh shrimp and butterfly them. Then, dip it in a tempura batter, coat it in panko and pan-fry it & voila your shrimps are ready to munch.

7. Mike's Huli Huli Chicken

Guy was amazed to watch the magic created by a rotisserie oven and created his own at home. From brining process to rotating it, there were several precautions taken before presenting the juiciest and tastiest piece of chicken to the customers.

How to prepare Mike's Huli Huli Chicken?

As seen on the episode of Diners Drive-ins and Dives Hawaii, owner Mike Fuse brines the poultry in salt and lemon juice overnight. Then, the bird is coated with dry rubs such as paprika, cumin, oregano, pepper and cayenne.

After the dry rub, the chicken is strung in his custom oven and cooked for 40 minutes over local Hawaiian wood. At last, you let it rest for a few minutes, and here's the crispiest chicken that anybody will ever try that's not been fried," says Guy.

8. Thai Mee Up

On the diners drive ins and dives, Guy goes to the famous Thai-inspired Hawaiian food eatery right by the airport. There, he tasted the boneless pork ribs, which per Guy is an immaculate dish that takes you to a freight train to flavour town.
